you hook it up to the auto tranny computer, and it maintains line preasure in the transmission. its supposed to give you better shifts and I believe it also changes the points where the auto tranny downshifts. Ive thought about getting one, I prob will now that i have a TT. As for a NA, if you dont have a underdrive pulley yet, the money is much more well spent on it. UD pulley was the best mod I made on my NA.

So are you saying I need to get the ASP Underdrive pulley before I get the Hks alc? I'm not satisfied with the shift timing. That's why I was thinkin about getting a hks alc; just to make it more smooth.

What does that underdrive pulley do anyways? That thing is not that expensive so I might get it if it's worth it. Like would it fix my problem. Does it have anything to do with the gear shifting or performance?

Underdrive pulleys just reduce the parasitic drag that the accesories create such as the alternator or power steering. Adds a few horses at most. Wont have any effect on your shifting speeds.

No, I am saying as far as bang for the buck, the UD pulley is more worth it. The two have nothing to do with each other. If you are looking from more power go with the pulley, its one of the best mods for the NA Z for the money. If you just want better shifts go for the ALC, most people seem to like them.

Yeah you might want to get new belts for the UD pulley if they werent included. Might as well replace them while you are down there.
