Default P75 converted to P72 for boost - Is it Possible?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if you could help me out.
Im going to be boosting my 2000 Integra gs-r.
I just bought an ecu from a guy, he advertised it as a chipped obd1 p72.
When i received it i noticed right away that it was a p75 and there was no
knock sensor board.

He said that he converts p75's to p72's and that vtec, IAB, and knock sensor would function normal.

Is this possible, or should i return it?

Thanks,
Chris

Sweet, you've been duped...kinda..
There is no way to add knock sensor functionality without a knock board. The P74/75 and P72 are the same mainboard, and the P74/75 are missing the vtec parts. There are spots for the parts, they just don't place them at the factory. It is very easy to convert to vtec and IAB starting with a P74/75 BUT without a knock board you've been mislead. I'm sure it probably has IAB and vtec functions, that's easy.

I hope you paid a decent price and got what you paid for, which should have been less $$ than a chipped P72.

Yea thats what i thought.
I have been doing a ton of research and i never saw
anything about being able to convert the ecu.
Im going to send it back to him today.

And the search continues for a chipped obd1 p72!
Thanks for helpin me out Fabrik8.

Just get a P72 and get it chipped. It shouldn't cost more than about $50 for the chipping, and a little bit more if you need a custom program. Are you using a Hondata system or is someone going to tune it for you with Uberdata or something similar?

I would like to buy one already chipped, that way i dont have to worry
about shipping it out again.

But yeah, im going to run uberdata, tuned by a guy in PA.
