It might be hard at first, but they'll find other jobs and they'll be happier not working for a morally pathetic company.
In an ideal world, Ford will continue to deteriorate and die out completely, Toyota will merge with GM and conveniently forget to renew the UAW contracts in 2008, and we'll start seeing more and more quality "domestic" cars put together by people who actually want to build cars.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The company is disgraceful. I'm not talking about their products, I'm talking about their practices.
Of course I don't wish unemployment on thousands and thousands of people, but they'd be better off working somewhere else anyway.
Maybe if they totally rebuilt themselves from the top down (like Firestone did when Ford fucked them) they could save themselves as a company, but I don't see that happening.

I probably just have too much hatred for them to be objective, but basically the big decision-makers at Ford have proven time and again that their shiny dimes are worth more than the lives of their customers.
