Lynchburg area alignment - Wilson's
Wanted to share a shop recommendation, Wilson's alignment just off Airport Rd in Lynchburg. The guy actually does the entire alignment by hand, all hand tools, no lasers, no looking up specs in the computer. He raced/set up circle track cars for over 20 years, so he's knowledgeable about how a given setting will affect the car. Just let him know how you use the car and he'll recommend settings to suit, or set it to whatever specs you want. And he didn't mind me hanging around and helping out, which means a lot to me because I *hate* dropping cars off somewhere and sitting in the waiting room.
His alignment rack is built over a pit, so unless your car is on the ground (literally) it will have no problems getting on.

If I absolutely have to not be in the bay with someone working on my car or doing anything with my car, I'll be pacing back and forth or standing wherever I can watch. lol..
I've been taking my car to get my oil changed other than once just because it's more convient. Most of the guys there know me so they don't mind me hanging around BSing with them while they're working. I kind of have to do that. I had a bad experience with my old mk2 16v when I took it somewhere for an oil change and they drained the oil and somehow forgot to put more oil in it. Needless to say, I don't go there anymore.

I did, however, sell the car for more than twice what I paid for it. It was a great car, but I only owned it for maybe 2 months, and all but maybe 3 days of that it was on the road. I picked it up on a Friday night after work--drove it from Richmond/Mechanicsville area back to Roanoke without any problems.. Took the car to have a custom exhaust made.. put it up on a buddies lift just to see if anything needed to be replaced, but everything looked good.. next day, took it to have the oil changed--driving out of the parking lot my oil light came on and "pop!"
My buddy towed it home for me and it sat there until I sold it. I still wish I'd kept it and did the swap, but shit happens. I was going to do a supercharged VR6 swap into it.

I agree 100%, I went with marshall to get my car aligned aswell. He definatly knows his shit... and won't talk down to you even if you have -8* of camber....lol
I think the best part (besides the fact that he knows what he's doing) is that like marshall said he can do almost any lowered car.
I have never heard of him? How much does he charge? I usually go to Philips off Memorial since he does that by hand and doesnt mind us hanging around but i need a rear alignment as well and he couldnt do it
where at off airport rd is he?
where at off airport rd is he?
ok, airport road exit off 460, then take left @ light then left @ water tower (greystone rd i think) go down that road maybe a 1/4 mile and you'll see a small sign for Wilson's on right. haha do it, no, doo it.
