Supra engine and trans help
Ok here is the deal. I have gotten bored with making the Lightning go fast so I want to start up a project. I am going to put a turbo Supra motor in an old boxy style S-10. The problem is I don’t know a lot about these motors, except they can be boosted out the ass and they are nearly bullet proof. So I would like to know some of the better websites to do some reading on them. I need to find out basics like…what needs to go into one to get 700-800hp out (the best internals to use and so on). And I need to find out what transmission will stand up to that kind of power. Any help is good. Thanks!

This sounds way too expensive, I think a better option would be maybe a turbo'd or s/c'ed Small Block chevy into an S10. The reason I say this is because kits already exist to perform this swap, sbc's are a dime a dozen, and when built are def capable of the 7-800+ that your looking for. This would probably be way cheaper than locating a 2jz engine, getting that thing into the S10, dealing with the wiring mess, and then upgrading it to 800 or so hp.

Supra Forums has a lot of info. Which motor are you thinking of using? 1JZ or 2Jz, iv seen some 1j's go up too 700 HP on a stock bottom end and there cheaper but parts are hard to get. 2j's your looking at a lot of money to spend. If you build a 7MGTE right it will do 700 but there not called "bullet proof"

S/B Chevy, twin turbos, tub the rear, narrowed rear end, notch the frame. It'll be sick, I promise.. Can you get drop spindles for those?
I just saw one (non-turbo) the other week in Denver and damn... It had what looked like 15" wide M/T Sportsmans or something in the back, tucked and tubbed. That's one of the only domestic trucks I've really wanted. It was one of the newer bodies.

If money is any type of concern I'd look into the 10,000 other options to put an S-10 into the single digits.
However, quite a few of the fast supra teams have mated TH400 (3 speed automatic truck transmissions) to Supra motors. That might be worth looking into. Theyre cheap and bulletproof.
