Arrow title for a new purchase...

is there some type of circumstance where it is impossible for you to get a title for a car from dmv? i found a car for sale by a private nissan dealer, if that makes sense, thats a close friend of mine. the car is 100% clean, not stolen or anything nothing shady about it, but he explained something to me that the owner (his grandfather) says if i was to buy it i couldnt get a title for it and i would never be able to legally drive it on the road. im not sure what term he used but i think he said the title was traded or something like that. am i sol or does this sound like a load of crap? ive never heard of a car you could just never ever get a title for again unless something big time happened with it. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

i work at a garage and after 30 days the car can be considered abandoned...then you have to send a registered letter to the owner with the dates youve had it and all that the dmv should be able to tell you the owner....but if you think the car is stolen you may not want to call the dmv with the vin. we have not had to do this in a while but i dont think much has changed...and i dont think there is much of a difference between rules for a car lot and a garage..good luck
