Hey, I got a new hood for my car, and it's not locking down. What could be the possible solutions for this? I tried adjusthing the latch uip and down, still not working. I havn't not really spent a lot of time with it yet, i have it held down by something, but it's not proper, and I need it working properly, let me know guys, gonna get at it tomorrow. So i want some opinions on this before I go out there. THanks.

 

What kind of hood? Metal? Carbon? Fiberglass? What car..?

 

Hey, sorry about that it's just a regluar metal hood, on a 95 honda civic 4 door lx. When i try and push the hood down the latch is being pushed down but not enough to engage the lock i guess. Let me know what I can do.

 

All you can really do is test positions of the latch. Why are you / did you change hoods?

 

I changed hood because I smashed up the other one, A lady slammed on her brakes when the roads were crap. Was only going like 30kmh, but the hood looked like shit, i already put a new latch on there, I guess it's all trial and error, let me know if any of you know a quick way to save sometime. Thanks.

 

is you main core support messed up? i rear ended a truck at 7mph and had to pay 1100 for a new main core support to be welded into my car, along with new hood, front bumper, and fenders. You could also have a hood from a 2/3dr. They dont fit like they should.

 

No the hood should lock the latch was working on the old hood until I bent it more after the accident to open my hood. So i guess it's all trial and error.

 

try prying the bar that the latch hooks on downward

 

when you close your hood does it go down but pop back up as if you pulled the hood latch or will it not go into the latch period. It could just be that the hood pop mechanism is messed up.

try going in your car and pulling the hood latch does it feel like it has any slack in it?

 

Yeah, does it not latch or does it not lock?
