Default Has anyone installed an aftermarked cd player in a 2003 impala

I was wondering if anyone or knows someone that has installed a cd player in a 2000 - 2003 impala. I want to install my old cd player, but I have read on some sites the car won't work correct. Has anyone done this or know if its true?

they sell a plug that will work with your car but its expensive. if you have onstar the plug is 159 99 but if not its 129 99

it can be done without this but your airbags may not work and your door chime wont work at all.

i work at circuit city too so it not like im tellin you this without knowing.

but yes it can be done

oh also you may have to cut some of the dash behind the radio

I have seen these done. If i recall correctly there is a radio relocation harness. It allows your airbags and door chimes to still work. If you want I could do it for a small fee.

You dont have to get the harness unless you have onstar. You do not need the factory headunit in the car.(maybe for onstar you do)

The factory headunit controls certain settings and options, everything but the door chime will work as normal without the relocation harness. The radio controls things light oil light reset, tire pressure reset, and lighting options like delays, etc. Nothing critical to the car working. Most service lights have other ways of turning them off like pushing gas 3 times while key is on, and engine off. That is pretty much what the relocation harness is for.

All you must have is the Impala to radio connecter, and run a wire from the fusebox for Acc. power. There is also a power drop under the passenger dash that you can take the power from. ZZP.com sells pigtails so no factory splicing is needed. And unfortunately you may have to cut the dash behind the radio. A small handled hacksaw blade works well here.

Awesome..that doesn't sound hard. I was looking at how to take the dash off, and its only 6 screws. Most of the parts have clips.
