Default where to ride??

I'm about to get a pocket bike cuz i just lost my license and i'm going to have a lot of time, i need something to do. i figure i really cant wait to get back on a bike so i gonna get this to play with. but the only problem is, where in the world can i ride without getting in trouble. my mom is saying if i ride around the neighborhood i can get in trouble and people can call the police on me. Is this true, is it really against the law to ride these things around a neighborhood? If not, where can i ride one at??

thanks,
jake

-please no jokes on this, im being completely serious. i've lost basicaly everything i can do without being able to drive and i just wanted to have something to do to pass my 6 months.

I guess it just depends on where you live at. Mabye call DMV and ask them what the laws are for like a scooter. I use to see this guy riding in my neighbor hood all the time with a bookbag on, I finally asked um what he had in the bookbag. His response "its filled with beer, i ride around all day drinking" he told me that he only got hassled by cops when he rolled through stop signs, other than that they found a 6 foot man on a foot tall bike to be rather amusing.

i found some laws and from what i gathered it seems like you only have to be 16, no more than 30mph/2bhp, cant ride where speed limit is 45+, and i have to have a helmet

those are for legit registered scooters though. Most of the pocket bikes don't meet height restrictions and/or don't have proper lighting/safety equipment or don't have real titles so they can't be plated. You probably will be cool in a housing development off the beaten path but if some neighbors complain and the cops come and give you a hard time it could be ticket time. I also wouldn't be riding around on normal 25 mph surface streets for the same reasons. Many home owners associations and cities have already banned the pocketbikes so I'd do some more research before forking out the cash. Before I'd get a pocket bike I'd buy a chinese rip-off of the crf50/xr50 as you still can bomb around in neighborhoods but you can also take it off-road in fields and some small trails......you'll break things eventually but there's a heck of a lot more you could do with it than a foot tall pocket bike. Plus you can get some pegs and stunt the hell out of them

va law says you have to be "eligible for a drivers liscence" to be legally able to operate any motor vehicle that doesn't require a registration (mopeds, scooters, pocketbikes, go-peds, etc)

that mean if your license is suspended, you still can't legally ride any motorized vehicle on the street. don't ask how i know.... lets just say it involves 30 blocks on the back wheel of a honda 50....

its still just a matter of the neighborhood if its all old people then good luck trying to ride, I mean I see little kids in my neighborhood riding all the time and they never get a hard time.

i basically live in a mostly black neighborhood, and they used to ride them all the time and my neighbors now have some knock off little dirt bikes (pep boys) and they dont get in trouble. but when i was younger i busted out the dirt bike a few times and had cops at the door.

he just loved the fact that i switched lanes to go around stopped traffic, and was still using my hand signals. all while on the back wheel.
