lt1 upgrades?
I've been told i have a Lt1 in my 87 corvette but i think its a L98, but either way if it is a lt1 i want to know if there is actually a kit for and lt4 upgrade for my lt1, but if it is a L98 what kind of choices am i looking at for my vette. I've done my research on my car that why i believe it has a L98 because that is what supposeably came in them. So for all of you chevy v8 guys out there help me out its been awhile since i have a V8 car, i kind of straded away and was import for the last couple of years, but my heart has and was always to the chevy v8 monsters, i'd go with friend who had imports and they would be looking at the import mags while i looked a chevy high proformance, super chevy, camaro proformers. So i'm back and want to stay back for a while.
Isnt a L98 a TPI motor not a LT1. PM WS6 he has ton of tpi and lt1 shit lying around. I know he had a LT4 setup at one time. I am pretty sure your car came with a l98 not a LT1. Do you have runners running from the base of the intake up to the upper plenum. Thats a TPI motor. If no runners its a LT1
LT1
TPI or L98
LT1
TPI or L98
its TPI couldn't see the picture because my computers just fucked up like that but i know its TPI. I was thinking that it was a L98 so what are my options being that i have a L98? most of the 350's i've owned have been the old school carbed ones. i mean i had a 85 camaro but i converted it to a carb engine because the one that was in it had slung a rod but for $250 i couldn't complain at the time.
It can be converted to a LT1. I know WS6(Manny) has done the conversion from a TPI to a LT1. A TPI motor came in 2 different CI. 305 and 350. 350 i believe is the L98. Good luck
Yeah L98 is the 350 TPI. I used to have an '89 formula with one. It's a good motor if you have the money to build it. They make plenty of stuff out there for TPI motors. Personally I would consider a stronger bottom end for it before you seriously build it.

The same shit you did before on your old 350's.. The L98 is a roller motor which is a great thing.. My buddie Burt has a L98 Z28 and he bored it out, put some good pistons and rods in it, heads and a small cam, with a Holly Stealth ram and his car is probably a low 13 high 12 second car.. The best thing to do to the TPI is put the stealth ram on it!! check out summit or holly.. Stealth ram with a tune will probably net you 30 or more hp!! Get some headers and full exhaust and thats another 20 or so!! Some ported heads and a nice cam and you will see at least 30 more!! Heads, cam, intake, full exhaust should net you 80hp at least with a tune!!

You can convert the LT1 *intake* to work on an L98 (http://lt1intake.com/services.htm), you can't turn an L98 into an LT1.
