Default cleaning foam air filter

i have a foam air filter and i was wondering if it it was okay to use K&N air filter cleaning kit on it, i ask because i think k&n filters are paper filters correct me if im wrong. i have a weapon r cold air intake, and the only place to get their "Weapon R foam filter cleaner" is online on a website that seems a little sketchy.

Just rinse it out, wring it out, and let it dry for at least 6 hours before even thinknig about using it again.

I can't see having to use K&N oil on it...that oil is the active filtering agent on a K&N filter, because the "screen" alone on a K&N does nothing for cleaning the air coming in. A foamy will filter just fine by itslef, I'd imagine the oil would hamper air flow pretty bad and may even damage it?

i dont know about not oiling it because the weapon r cleaner has a reconditioning oil also, but the WR site says not to use any other cleaner, or it will void warranty.
yeah its the plasticy stuff with holes on it, not like a sponge foam.
also you cant dissconnect the foam from its housing because its all connected im pretty sure but ill double check

Who the hell returns a filter anyway?

Yeah if it's the same damn thing as the K&N, then use it. I thought we were talking abotu sponge-like foam shit.

Do it to it.

You DO need to oil a foam filter, it's the same as a cotton element filter like a K&N. It really depends on whether you want your filter to act as a filter.. The oil is still responsible for trapping and holding dirt, without that the foam isn't going to do that great of a job. The K&N cotton filter kit oil should work fine on the foam, it's just a detergent/emulsifier solution and red high tack oil. I bought a Amsoil foam filter kit from a local dealer and it's pretty much identical to the K&N kits I've had in the past. The Amsoil stuff was cheap, I'll be buying that for ever after for my filter needs. The one nice thing about the K&N kit is aerosol oil, the Amsoil stuff is a little bottle so you can work it into the foam by hand.
