Default Squeeking when i turn the wheel.

I have an avenger and everytime I turn the wheel. There is a squeeky noise. almost a grinding coming from the driver side wheel. I put it up on jacks the other day and took the wheel off. The spring was split in half. So i replaced that hoping that was the problem. Nope. Still doing it. Now sometimes it makes a whirling noise when i am just driving down the road. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Check to make sure the heat shield is not contacting the rotor... When you lift the car and spin the wheel does it make any rubbing noises?

could be wheel bearing or brake pads getting low

I have no idea how it happens. But when I took the thing apart. It literally fell out in 2 pieces. I have no idea how it was staying in there? I can take pictures of it if you like. LOL.

Also. I found the problem of the whirling noise. It WAS the heat shield rubbing on the rotor. But the other squeeking noise only happens when I turn the wheel. But it doesnt make the noise when the car is up in the air. And after I put the wheel back on and lowered back the ground it didnt make the noise for a couple of hours again but then it came back.

I still think it's related to brakes.

And I demand pics of this spring.

Check your steering fluid, it may be low. The squeaking might be a worn or dry suspension bushing also.. The fact that it goes away and comes back is a little strange, and is why I'm leaning toward a bushing, which can reseat itself a little bit when you jack the car up and let it back down.

Does it squeal only when the wheel is turned, and does it squeal if you keep the wheel turned? Also, does it squeal regardless of whether the car is moving or not?

The car does not have to be moving. It does not keep squeaking after it turned. car doesnt even have to be turned on. And its definately not the power steering this is a much more annoying creaking like a door kinda noise.

Pictures of the spring.... Obviously..
