Default intake manifold idea-will it work?

Ok, I just thought of this 10 mins ago. I want people to give me opinions about why it will or will not work. Cold air is what you want in your engine, so there are CAI and intercoolers, but, by the time the air passes throught the pipes leading to the throttle body, that air is heated by underhood temps. So would it be efficient to have an intake manifold with fins on it similar to a radiator or an intercooler? Do you think that this would reduce intake temps or not affect them? Also, you could spray compressed gas on the intake manifold to reduce temps, kind of like an intercooler sprayer, but closer to the motor. Tell me what you think. I'm not planning on doing this to my car, but was just curious if anyone thought that there would be gains from it.

well since you are blowing hot underhood air on it, no. Your better off insulating the intake piping, but my CAI piping stays pretty cool to the touch.

like he said, the fins would heat up to the underhood temps.

a sprayer might not be the best idea for the intake manifold because spraying cold air on hot things makes them tend to crack...you wouldn't want to be spraying cold liquids around in your engine bay.

The one nifty idea I picked up on at a porsche club race day was fitting a type of "ice box" into the intake track that you actually fill up with something cold, like ice or co2.

thats basically a water cooled intercooler and they have pumps to recirculate the water, add ice and ur good to go.

What i want to know is why we haven't seen any air to compressed gas intercoolers. I know theres gotta be something that would stay cold and be able to be sealed inside like the water cooled one. Just a thought.

The fins would probably be a very efficient way to add heat to your intake air. You have to remember that the fins only exchange temperature from a higher temp to a lower temp. Soooo if your engine bay temp is higher than your intake air temp, the fins will transfer the engine heat to the intake air.. Simple physics...
