get new tranny or replace clutch?
i just put a ls swap with s1 tranny in the crx... while driving i notice there is a slight grinding sound going into third gear. it still stays in gear and drives great but its seriously getting to me now. i dont know if the tranny needs to be replaced or throw a new clutch kit in it..? also does it going into reverse as well.

the cable trannys have a clutch adjustment on the trans bracket right at the battery tray. You could try adjusting that..otherwise it sounds like its possible the synchros are a little warn. Check your tranny fluid level as well.

Try some synchromesh tranny fluid. You can get it at any GM dealership. And as far as reverse grinding. That is kind of normal reverse is a non synchronized gear, so it will have the tendancy to grind.
as previously mentioned that tranny is starting to deteriorate. Depending on how hard you drive the car you still have plenty of mileage before it completely gives out on you. Do you notice any other noises coming from the tranny? right before i popped second gear, it was making all sorts of noise especially during decceleration.

welcome to the wonderful world of b-series trannies. 3rd gear is usually the first to develop worn syncros.
i've had an s1 and a y21 tranny, both grinded going into third gear. usually if i pause a sec between shifts from second to third i wont get a grind but if i'm going for balls out acceleration then it's going to grind 100% of the time.
i don't believe it's worth the money to rebuild. as far as i know you can't buy just the third gear syncro, you have to get the set and it's not cheap.
my advice is to just deal with it and when it dies buy another tranny.

Get a B16a Tranny when you get another Tranny Mike. I have an LS tranny on my B16a and it's alright i guess. Second will sometimes grind, third as well. But hey, do me a favor, I've alway's been curious. Go over 15 mph in second gear and then try to put your car back in first while your over 15mph. Does it grind? Like its a "first gear lockout" ???? I've never seen/heard of it. I think i'm low on fluid as well..
