Swapped motor + Full Coilovers......Problem
Hi all, need some help here. I got a eg with a GSR swap. Recently just after I installed my coilovers and dropped it 1.6 inches, I got a wierd vibration when I gased it in first and second gear....so I put the car on the lift and found out my left axel is kinda loose, also my right cv boot spat out all this black grease on the inside of my rim. I replaced the axel with brand new GSR axels. Got the car aligned and I still have a slight wobble when i accelerate. There was one thing I did notice while the car was on the lift. When the tires are hanging the axels looks straight, when resting on the lift platform they look kinda (\/)<< exagerrated. I am guessing the block sits lower with a B18C1 then say the stock motor, so maybe in lowering I am causing the axels to compensate for the block. Well now that's pretty much the background info. on my current problem. Any tech. help on this matter. Or does anyone know a good experienced shop in the DC metropolitan area who knows how to deal with swapped motors with aftermarket suspensions. Thanks
What kind of mounts are you using for that swap? I'm guessing there is a geometry problem with the way the engine is aligned from front to back, not vertically. There really shouldn't be any problem though, there are thousands of people with the exact same swap, lowered, etc., that you're doing, so it's probably something very simple, like a bad suspension bushing or something. Axle droop isn't a problem, axles work fine in that position. Any visible wheel bearing problems on that side?
I shall do a more thorough search for bushing and bearing issues maybe that is where the problem is. There is also another thing I noticed if I accelerate very casually partial throttle from a stop under 3K 10-25mph no vibration also at higher speeds it is ok. Now if I floor it while going over 50mph it vibrates and the same if I am around 20-25mph and I drop it in a lower gear and hit the gas.
