Default 98 Civic DX (D16y7) to 94 Civic EX (D16z6) swap, what do I need to make it work?

I blew the motor in my stock 98 coupe dx, and have this donor parts car that I was told I could swap in, temporary, until I get a K series.

I was told I need a 98 civic ex ecu? is this true or can I use the one thats in the 94 ex already? Any help appreciated, thanks.

The y8 ecu should run the z6 fine.

think so? people have told me i have to buy obd2 to obd1 harness conversion and p28 ecu. so i just want to make sure i buy whatever is necessary, just to get this car running and pass inspection.

Car probably won't pass inspection if it's a 98 with a 94 motor in it. In Virginia, it's illegal to put an older motor into a newer chassis.

friend just said "get the car running, bring it over, and i'll pass it for you, just make sure you have all lights, and a stock exhaust. so all i need to do is get the car running.

driveahonda- thanks for everything, i already have the ecu from the old motor, going to try to use that, before i spend money on getting ecu and harness.

does anyone else have any other comments or feedback? greatly appreciated.
