You're not tightening it to 104 ft/lbs, are you?

hand tighten it and 1/4 turn. thats all an oilpan gasket needs and thats what i have always had good ways with. i never follow the torque specs on the oil pan cause it just smears the gasket too much outward and it doesnt seal. make sure your cross tightening as well. dont go around the oil pan in order, that just pushed the gasket to one side.i always cross tighten from left to right and front to back. i use a 1/4 inch ratchet to tighten my stuff, fuck a torque wrench on an oil pan gasket, hand tighten and a 1/4 turn is plenty.

word...i did do 104, untill i saw what it was doing to the gasket...this is ridiculous one last time, the first one i got from advanced tighted it to about 40inch/lbs that split i half the first time i got on it...the 2nd one i got from Honda, hasn't split but it hink i torqued it down still too much.

finally this 3rd time is the charm for me to get it.
