Default Suzuki Bikes

Anyone done a TPS / TRE mod on their suzuki bikes?

Curious if it does make a difference.

ive done the TRE and yes it is a difference... it made my throttle response more smooth and better through all the gears. i did this on a 05 gixxer 600

i thought about doing it on my 06. when i go full throttle in first, it pulls harder and harder until you get to about 10k, then it starts to not pull AS hard.. you can almost feel the timing retard and the power increase not raise as much. also, you can feel the front end wanting to glide across the ground, but not come up. ive started to notice little things like that under full throttle in 1st all the way to redline.

i want to try the TRE and see how it does.

shouldn't make any difference in higher gears... all the tre does is fool the bike into thinking it's in high gear all the time, so the cpu will run different timing in the lower gears. that's why it's called a Timing Retard Eliminator.

yeah basically i want a smoother throttle on the low gears..2 & 3. Its jerky and i have a pretty steady hand. I know Suz's are known to come out of the factory with the tps at 3k rpm. might do it this weekend just to be cheap...don't wanna spend the money on a pc.

actually, i think only the gixxer1k's and busa's have the timing retarded in the first couple gears since they have all the power. i could be wrong, but why would you need to retard timing on a gixxer6 or an sv? they don't make that much power (compared to an busa or 1k)

some of the carb'ed bikes have a similar setup too (bandit1200's), but you don't have to do anything but clip a wire to disable it (the "wheelie wire")

Most if not all suzukis have it. Sv's do I'm pretty sure but don't quote me on that. I built mine for my TL for 15bucks through radioshack and ordering factory plugs through a certain site.

Check out this site, hes a member on the tl board and is a very good guy to deal with. http://www.jsdproducts.com/

yes '03+ sv's have it because of the FI. i'm not concerned about the power, its more for smoothness of the throttle and fuel delivery on the lower gears. could care less how fast the bike goes on a straight away, any monkey can wring the throttle. i'm more concerned with smoothness on a deep turn or deceleration on a turn entrance.

just because it has f.i. doesn't mean it has retarded timing in the first few gears.

most f.i. bikes have choppy throttle response because of the fuel maps they have to run from the factory to pass emissions. if you want to really smooth the throttle response, put a pc3 on it to remap the fuel curve. pc3r's aren't really neccesary unless you are running a turbo or nos and need to play with the ignition timing. most new bikes have plenty of ignition advance already for a moderately tuned motor.

just my .02 though. if you think the tre will help you with what you're trying to accomplish.. by all means go for it.
