short block versus long block

i was looking at the engines for sale on http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/ and i was wondering why are long blocks so much cheaper than regular short blocks? Does one perform better than the other? and what would be the disadvantages of having a long block versus short block?

Short block = Just the block NO HEAD
Long block = Block + Head
Full swap = Block + head, transmission, ecu, wiring harness, axles, intake manifold, distributor etc......

I don't think the long blocks are cheaper than the short blocks, i think you got that reversed.
