hey i am about to go look at a rx7 to buy and i would like to know some things to look for to see if their are any problems. pm me if thier is anything i should know thanks

 

is it an fc or fd. normal fc problems are as follows:
leaking weather stripping in the doors (just look for water damage on the floorboard carpet)
windsheild wipers sometimes like to work on one speed
the sunroofs tend to not want to open/close
make sure the car idles at about 750 rpm
make sure both headlights work

thats just some basics off the top of my head

 

what year is it?

if its an FC:
LOOK UNDERNEATH!!! i know a lot of RX7s thatlook banging on the outside but are rusted as hell underneath.

chek the drivers side door and lock. my last RX7 drivers sidedoor didnt work and was a pian in the ass. also chek the passenger, the drivers side is most common to go out though.

make sure the motor is all good and everything that is supposed to be there is there.

check the compression of the motor. rotaries go out because of bad compression, that why there isnt too many around.

make sure the idling is good. turn the Ac on and the idle shouldnt go down.

of course make sure it doesnt overheat.

but anyways, there are somethings. i hope youre buying an FC, if not then forget everything i said. good luck anyways!

 

also remember to check the door handles. they have a tendency to break.

 

thanks everynody. its a 88 with 91 bumpers, hood, lights, and fenders, 91 motor swap. is alien green. convertable 2 seater. i checked it out and all is well but the drivers fender is primmed and its a 2 seater not enough room for me. nice car though. he also has the turbo kit for it but its not installed. should i trade my 93 integra for it?

 

depends whats on your integra. if you think its a fiar trade. whats the miliage on the Rex? does it run good? is it a plain hood? any other mods to it? suspension, rims?

 

no the rx7 is stock no mods. the integra has c/f hood, catback, headers, new clutch, aem intake, and ls rims, thanks for the help but i think im goin to let this one pass me by.
