Default possiblity of me needing to replace piston rings...

So i was burning oil/shooting clouds of smoke behind me on occation and to determine where it was coming from. i did a compression test and it to say that #3's piston rings are done, but i'd like to do a leakdown test to be certain.

does anybody have one i can borrow for a hot minute, or maybe if you want to help me out that'd be awesome. maybe if you want to do it for a case or something.

also any other advice on the situation is appreciated.

Pour in a cap full of oil and redo the compression test and if it improves that usually means it is the rings.

it's a sure fire beat that if anyone 1 cyclinder is 5% + or - of any of the other cyclinder then your rings are bad. If your compression is 156 and you read 110 then they are bad. Please remember compression readings need to take into consideration head gasket mods as well. Thicker drop and thinner raise. Also shaving the head will move those numbers as well.

If your driving a honda changing rings is very bad idea for amature self modder because the motors are blue printed. It's best to let a certificed motor head do it. If I wasn't in a gated community I have sourced for rings and such but the gated thing is a bitch. PM if you looking for parts. I have shops in Woodbrings for rings. You need to state asperation.

References: B18c1jspec and Illegal.

Note: Will not do the install. I'm missed key pieces to my tool set at this time do recent divorce in the family. Your should also consider replacing valve seals (can help with) when you do rings. Smoke can also come from old and rotted valve seals. Other wise if your in woodbridge area take you entire block to norpa and ask them to replace your rings. Tell her Sean from OuterXtreme Motorsports sent you.

Doing rings is not a good idea. You have to drop the crank/rods out and spec the bottom end out as well as rehone the block.
