my amp fuse keeps blowing

Re: my amp fuse keeps blowing
Possible speaker wire shorts, an overheated sub, or a loose ground. Subs that have been overheated (from too much power or distortion) can have broken down insulation on their voice coil wires. Loose grounds can make fairly high current transients when they make and break contact. There are a few possibilities. If the amp is on speakers with a crossover (instead of a sub) the crossover could have a problem.

Putting a higher rated fuse in it is the most retarded thing you could possibly do, don't do it. Bypassing protection is the best way to destroy something.

haha your name is my liscense plate well alpha numerically spelled anyways it was the fuse on the side of the amp and the wattage on on the amp i think is like 600 watts i had it bridged im pushing a bazooka sub in a bandpass box. I think the problem prolly was a loose ground but when i fixed that I accidentally hit the negative wire to the positive side of the cap, I dont know if it just discharged or if it is dead but now the amp wont even see any power. Does anyone know if what I did just discharged the cap and if soo how do i charge it back ...or can i charge it back?

Re: my amp fuse keeps blowing
So the negative wire was hooked to the amp when you touched the cap? You've most likely just destroyed your amp, they don't like having power hooked up backwards, which is what you just did. The cap is fine, your amp is not.
Back away from the electronics..
