Im just curious if there are any local places that pay for recycleable metal such as aluminum. I have quite a few large aluminum pieces that instead of just tossing out, Id like to see if I cant sell them as scrap aluminum possibly. Just curious if anyone on here knows of any.

There are a few places in roanoke/bedford area but they don't give you crap for them. You will probably spend more in gas taking the metal to them then they will pay you.

I took 950lbs of scrap steel to cycle systems and got a whopping $13.00......and a piece of metal imbedded in one of my tires.

New tire/mount/balance=~$64
Cash I got for dragging all that crap to them $13
Total net profit= -$51

My dreams of early retirement via metal recycling went in the crapper real quick ....not to mention the gas to make the trip and the hour or so spent sorting the crap out to make sure I didnt have anything on the truck they wouldnt take (shocks, gas tanks, AC parts, etc).

That bad huh? I was thinking of bringing a few aluminum parts that I have lying around. Such as a 1g cylinder head that I ordered off of ebay years ago that showed up with mismatched cam caps, making it worthless to me.

There is a place in Christiansburg - I know a few years ago when i was doing construction, etc we tore the aluminum siding off of some houses and took it there and made like 100 bucks or something like that...

I really can't think of the name of the place - i'll try to find out when i get home from my baseball game tonight
