VTEC isnt over-rated, people just expect the same power from it as forced induction does, all who think its overrated are juts miseducated on its function.

Your poll isn't gonna be a fair poll. All Honda owners will answer NO; all Honda bashers will anwer yes.

Bottom line is, VTEC as a concept is pretty cool, but was better executed by other car manufacturers.

 

vtec is not over rated, honda is over rated...but honda is the only ones in my book to do vtec right...ive road in cars with the vvti and other wanna be vtec boohsit, it dose not impress me as it does on a honda

Well, my opinion is based on media, not experience. So I'd take the opinion of somebody who has experienced different types of variable valve timing blah blah blah...over mine.

The main sense in which I would agree VTEC is overated is the way alot of kids think that VTEC is like nitrous or other kind of boost. Yes, I realize that at one point VTEC will "kick in", but it's NOT like when a pair of turbos kick in!

 

VTEC is one of the best revolutions in Honda history. People that hate on it don't have it or have it in a heavy car so it's weak when it activates. Vtec from a b18 in a 2000lb. car will throw you back in your seat and yes, I am speaking from experience.

 

vtec is made to save your gas lol
