Need help, car bogging
I have an 89 EF with a d16y7 in it running on DPFI (plz save the flaming, Im working on the MPFI stuff as we speak) My problem is my car bogging down at lower RPM's, almost feels like a misfire. Once I get above 3 to 3.5k rpms, the car smooths out. Car will also tend to idle lower than it should (500 to 700 rpms) I have an intermittent CE light, but ECU (obd-o) does not stop flashing for me to count flashes. It will just continually flash over and over nonstop. I have maintained the car as far as rotor, cap, plugs, wires, fuel filter. Any ideas for me to check guys? ECU, DPFI setup, Dizzy?

i'm gonna take a wild guess at this one....just maybe its bogging because you are running a freaking dpfi setup and ecu meant for much lower power motor than you have it on.

I dont know if I would say "much lower" the y7 is rated at like 108 I think... but then again, Honda gave Si's mpfi for a motor putting out about the same hp... so you could be right. Only reason Im not completely sure of this is because the car has not always done this. Ive owned it two and half years and this has just recently become a problem. I defenitely see your point though, it has crossed my mind.

Re: Need help, car bogging
ECU flashes continuously and never really stops at a certain number thus not giving me a correct reading. Possible bad ECU, but I did also find out today that I am still running obd-o dizzy as well. Absolutely everything on the car is obd-o except for the 96 obd-1 motor, so Im positive the motor is leaning out. Maybe primary injector is getting clogged or the fact that I bought a cap and rotor for a d16y7 (mpfi) and Im still using the DPFI dizzy.(Something I was unaware of until today) Either way, I have some things to correct tomorrow, will update then. Thanks for all the help guys. John, you could possibly end up getting a call on this one lol

Do not have a different dizzy to just throw on and see if it fixes the problem. If anyone has one I could come buy and test to see if it works, I would greatly appreciate it. Car is still running the original obd-o dizzy (yellowish connector, correct?) so im thinking this is it. The d16y7's came with MPFI didnt they? What year did DP become obsolete from the factory?
