Cox Cable sucks now, is DSL better?
Okie, so in the last 3 months i've had to reset my modem almost daily...and in the last 2 weeks with the new Battlefield game i 'lost connection' every 2-3 hours. wth!?
Anyone else having these issues with Cox Cable? Is Verizon DSL 3mb download any better?

I've had very few issues with Cox internet myself. Been pretty rock stable for me.
I was having a similar problem as you about a year ago, and come to find out it was the modem that I had. It was a very old Toshiba, one of the first ones they were issuing. I went out and got a new one and it's been great ever since. I think I've had to reset the modem once in year since I got it.
Also, do you have a router? It could be crapping out on you too. Don't automatically suggest that it's the service going to shit.

I have all Lynksys stuff... a year and 1/2 old modem and same thing for the router.... never had a problem til like 3 months ago like i said.. it does it mostly when it rains...it's crazy my net doesnt always drop all the way out just down enuff to make online games lag out. sucks getting in a good game of BF2142 and lagging out of it in the middle of owning someone..haha.

There was this funky issue at my place about a year ago. The people next door used to have Cox telephone, so a special adapter has to go in the box. When they moved, Cox didn't come get it. We were having issues with both internet and cable. They spent almost a week trying to figure it out. Come to find out, that about 4 boxes 'upstream', there was one of those telephone converter thingies that had gotten water in it somehow and was causing all the headaches for everybody 'downstream'.
Seriously. Call Cox. It can't hurt.
im in an apt too.. so my cable gets slow at night anyways thanks to everyone in the building using it.
and DSL can not go over 4.something MBs even if they 'rate' it at 10.. but i might look into that..
Verizon is 14 bucks for the 1st 6 months.. AND you get a free 150 dollar best buy gift card right now.. so i was thinking about jumpin to them but i dunno.. anyone have Verizon, are they any good?

verizon tried to tell me some crap about it not going over 3 or 4mb also, maybe its just their system. I had verizon 768k and just recently switched and I can get speed tests at the least of 8mb and 750 up from speakeasy speed test
