2001 Mazda Protege Airbag Light Flashing
My gf's airbag light is flashing and she won't stop crying about it. I'm pretty sure if the light is flashing it means the system has disabled itself and the airbags will not deploy in a crash. I'm guessing one of the restraint control sensors is bad which deactivates the airbag and the pretensioners. I know this is a problem for a dealership so my main question is should they be covering this under warrenty since it is a safety feature. I know alot of cars have a lifetime warrenty on faulty safety equipment. Anyone know?

I'm not sure if you will have to pay any money or not but you should be a little worried. The light flashing does not always mean it is disabled, worst case scenario one of the crash sensors was tripped(two tripped means boom!) or just a faulty signal was received by the SRS control module. I would recommend getting it checked out as soon as possible.
