1993 S10 - V8 Swap
Yea... I just bought a 1993 S10 and im looking to swap the 2.8L V6 with a V8 - 350. I've never done a swap before on a truck, especially not from a v6 to a v8. I figured someone on "Drag" could help me out with picking out a motor, tranny, rear end (if needed), ect....
First off, what kind of motor should i get (what kind of car/truck, what year, so on) I've read and had a couple people tell me "Just get a 350 motor and a turbo 350 tranny". Ok?? So can this 350 be a Dodge 350? Ford 350? Or does it have to be a Chevy 350? And then this turbo 350 tranny, what does this come out of? The current tranny is just a standard 5 speed. Any input on how to do this, or a step by step link to doing this would be MUCH MUCH appreciated. I've heard that this can done for pretty cheap and thats wut i like to hear. I have a little bit of money to work with right now... Thanks for everyones advice ahead of time.
PS- I only get on the computer every 3-4 days so if it takes me a while to respond do not be *shocked*
... THANKS!!!

I looked into swapping a v8 into a Isuzu truck in the past. All I found on the net were kits to swap in the 8 into S-10 trucks. The kits are fairly complete. Also Are you thinking of retaining fuel Inj? If so look into Painless wiring, go to their site for info. They even had harnesses to bypass the Alarm/coded key features on late model LT-1's.
Jeg's carries all the items, or you could source them out yourself. Start by getting a Jeg's cat in the mail, look up what you will need off the donar. Late model cameros are fairly economically priced if you search for a wrecked one, and swap in everything. Good luck, you doing a good do-able swap, with lots of products to choose from to help you complete it.

Thanks so much for u all's input. And no i wanna stay with the carb., fuel injection is just more electrical shit that I DO NOT wanna mess with. I guess im just going to have to get someones help when it actually comes to INSTALLING this motor. I know i can rebuild the engine, tranny, ect. Its soooo easy when its actually out of the car/truck and you can get to everything at a 360 degree angle. So does anyone wanna help me "create" this beast ass truck just so they can say "yea i helped build that" lol...
