I need to know if a local painter/shop can do this.
Ok well first off I don't need a whole car painted or I would know who to talk to. My fiance just bought an 07 GTI and as some of you know VW decided that it would be a good idea to make half of the rear bumper textured along with the sideskirts. Instead of buying the expensive ass lip kit I'd like to see if there's a local shop that could smooth it down and paint and put some type of warranty on their work in case it chips or something. I know it can be done because I've seen it. I'm trying to create a better look for the car at a fraction of what the lip kit cost.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about here's some examples.
Stock (no OEM lip kit)
Smoothed and painted

Yeah it's definitely strange if you're used to driving a manual, but she's used to her old Xterra, so that didn't pose a problem.

thats a pretty easy job and you have plenty of space to blend the color

Well like I told Ricky I've heard horror stories and I've heard that it wasn't bad at all. I think it's what you make it. The textured area has to be smoothed all the way down.
My plan was to PM Ricky before starting the thread, but I had no idea what his schedule looked like or if he could do it. Well he's down to do it and gave me a great price, so all is well.
