Timing belt to tight?
Well, I got this motor pretty much in alot of trading.
It is a d15b sohc vtec.
The timing belt is really tight, like no play what so ever, and my car sounds like its supercharged. Could that be my belt being to tight, should I loosen it up some or what?

leave it. it'll whine for a while. Its ok. better tight than loose. Never had a problem with one messing up because it was too tight. just make sure all your bolts are tight and you are good to go. tell people it is supercharged; make them wonder.

Keep it like that for a while and you'll destroy your tensioner pulley bearing, you'll see.. Keep your eye out for funny smells too, you can smell stuff overheating when they're overloaded.
Belts don't make that much contact noise themselves, it's usually other things too with too much load on them. Argue all you want.

I've seen a few with obvious overheating and pitting that you can feel. I'm not sure exactly how overtightened they were, but that's somewhat irrelevant. Anyway, it's not unheard of, and better safe then sorry. Overloading a belt is never a great idea for the bearings of anything attached to it.
