Default Tranny

So I just put in a new clutch in my Rx-7. I am tryin to put the tranny back in, but its like the shaft will only go about halfway into the flywheel and then it stops. I thought maybe the threads on the shaft weren't lining up, but I've tried spinning the rod while pushing, and still nothing. I have had various people try to help me get it in there. I alligned the clutch when I put it in, so I don't think thats the problem. Any suggestions?

yup...thats a good way to fuck something up!

did you make sure that the clutch disk had the same splines as the input shaft. like a test fit by chance?

Update.
The tranny is now in, but I am getting some major noise from the shifter.
Also, when I put it in reverse, I get a loud grinding noise before it goes in.
