Default Anyone GSXR experts in the Northern VA area?

I have an 06 GSXR600 that I need to replace the gas tank on, my current one is dented and the tank cover fairing is tore up. I have a new one on the way, I was looking for someone who could assist or help me with the installation. I don't have a lot of money to pay, but I could come up with some or pizza/beer. If anyone can give me a hand, let me know. thanks!

Shouldn't be too hard to replace, but I'm sure steve will jump on it quick.

this might sound obvious but ride it around until your as close to running out of gas as you can be, makes it alot easier to work with and less messy when removing the fuel pump... seems like everytime i've replaced a tank i make the bonehead mistake of filling up my tank the day it comes in the mail

yea I thought about that... I figured it would be easier for me to just drain it by riding it (plus its more fun ) and then go from there. Thanks for the reminder though!

<---steve

it's REALLY easy to get the tank off and on that bike man. it's got a dry-break on the fuel line, so no worries about dumping gas all over the place. if you can't find anyone to do it for you, i can write you some step by step instructions. i'm in va beach, or i'd come do it for ya. i'm all about some free beer!!

Thanks man! Im up in Triangle, right outside Quantico. I am about 2.5 hours from you (I head va beach and norfolk once in awhile). Do I need anything other then the replacement tank and cover? Someone told me I need a new fuel pump gasket, is that accurate?

I love to buy beer , but if you could throw me some instructions together that would be great and save me or you the trip. And then I could Buy you some beer the next time I head down there

Up to you man, just let me know. Thanks a million for the help too!!

tank and cover SHOULD do it. the fuel pump just uses a big o-ring to seal it. 9 times out of 10 you wouldn't have to replace it, but there's always a chance. just make sure it stays in the groove it's meant to be in, and you should be fine. i'll type up a step by step how-to and send it to you. i've done several things like this before, so it's no big deal. i even wrote up a step by step how-to about jetting carbs once, lol. THAT was all kinds of fun.

i'll get that to you in a day or two. i may be able to type it up at work while i'm not doing anything. if not, gotta wait till i get home to get it done.
