So I go to UMD College Park which is located in that horrid county of PG. I’m debating if I should bring my celica up here. Crime as everyone knows is horrible. UMD was ranked #2 in the nation for the most crime last yr. Students stay getting robed on campus. I’m not sure what the grand theft auto crime statistics are like but I know striped NOVA cars always end up here. I know I wouldn’t be comfortable bring my whip up here. I mean I could take the rims off and prolly be straight. But I hate taking my rims off, I lose all my shine once I do that. Another problems is parking can be a mile away from your dorm. Also, Im one of those people who hate parking by other people and who like to wash their car weekly. Both these things I wont be able to do once I'm here.


I mean clearly having a car on campus is a major plus, but idk...??

 

sounds like you answered your own question. maybe just buy a beater

 

buy a '86 escort, remove all seats and upholstery, set them on fire, extinguish & reinstall, then bang in the panels (if not already done)... you shouldn't have to worry too much...

What was not to comprehend I think jamaicans are tight yes it is completely off topic but their is alot of Jamaicans in PG, I just thought I would throw that in their.

 

I have been on College Park campus dozens of times with the WRX. College Park used to be my second home back when I was younger. For the most part, your Celica should be fine. I don't think twice about bringing the WRX down there on campus. Alot of modded car drivers have their cars on campus there.

As long as you stay around campus and drive up Route 1 to the Beltway to get places, you should be fine. Also, as long as you don't park your car in Beltway Plaza (or actually even goto Beltway Plaza) you will be fine.

The nasty part where everybody's car winds up at is over by the B/W Parkway. And again, I've driven my WRX on that road multiple times as well.

Again, just don't drive on Route 1 into DC and don't go down 193 towards New Hampshire Ave (650). And try to avoid Beltway Plaza (if you gotta drive 193 thru the area to 201, you should be fine, just don't park there).

 

i lived in pg for 3 years... i went to umdcp from 01-04 and my accord was broken into 4 times... three times in laurel and once in adelphi but never on campus (but i didnt live on campus either). its on the border of dc so its a toss up no matter how you look at it. if your a freshman.... expect to be parking in the middle of nowhere and humping it to class/the dorm/ whatever... or if you have a friend who's a senior... they can get you a hook up with a parking pass thats better sometimes.

best advice i can give is take 500 from your financial aid/student loans and get you a beater... if you love your car, why risk it?

 

get a cheap beater. Problem solved.

 

Unless you got chrome rims I wouldn't worry!
