I was driving home from poqouson the other night. THe car was driving good with the big16g I had put on a couple days before. I was running it on low boost and taking it easy trying to break all the new shit in. that morning i hear a slight tick in the motor, but it was no louder than lifter tick. throughout the day the ticki slowly turned into a loud knock. it gets worse as im driving, next thing i know i hear a loud pop from the motor, so i shut off the engine thinking the timing belt broke. nope it was ok. So i try to drive it home and it keeps dying on me and the tick is really bad. My first thought was that a lifter had collapsed but i replace all 16 and it's still doing it. it idles almost normal, oil pressure is good, doesn't overheatstarts right up still.. anybody know what this could be? i posted a video with sound above of it.
P.S. - the "smoke" you see in the video is just oil burning off of the exhaust manifold. I was running it with the valve cover off at first trying to find the noise.
Check spark plugs, compression....doesn't sound good man
i have fucking dial-up so it will take a couple of mins for my comp to buffer it, but it sounds just like my problem. it is depressing i know cos i just bought the car like day before yesterday, but i have a new motor to put in it its just that thats a lot of time, and effort and i dont ahve the money to pay some1 else to to do it
i just listened to first like 7 seconds of it and that is exactly wat mine sounds like and does it seem like to you it hesitates to start, it sounds different
