Default Aftermarket Rearsets Question

I put the vortex rearsets on and it eliminates the rear break light...my question is, on the stock rearset there are two springs on the brake control...does the larger spring just turn that plate a little bit and then the smaller spring takes over? just making sure i don't need either of these for the aftermarkets...instructions were pretty non-existent. thanks for any info

i had rearsets on my sv650 and i have them on my gsxr. neither of them accounted for the spring nor the switch. i just left both of them off. the master cylinder wont hold pressure on the rear brake unless your foot is on it. as far as the rear brake switch... you shouldnt really be using the rear brake without the front brake anyway, so i wouldnt worry about it. now i have a problem because the rear brake doesnt activate the light, and my brembo master cylinder doesnt have a switch on it either. just a pressure sensing banjo bolt that doesnt really seem to work all that well. its becoming more, not streetable...

but yea.. just leave it off, youll be ok. i think thast what most people do. theres really no way to mount the spring.

the big spring is supposed to bring the brake pedal back up if it should start sticking. the little spring just pulls the brake light switch. if you really want to keep the rear brake switch (so you can pass inspection), just zip tie it to something and attach the end of the switch (where the spring is) to the brake pedal with a piece of stiff wire. i had the same problem with some of my old aftermarket rearsets.

yeah i already said to myself i'll just rig it if it comes to inspection but these things look sick and just sitting on it with the kickstand feels so much better than stock...can't wait to try em out! thanks all

You can also have a welder that can weld aluminum weld the cup that holds the cylinder to the back of the rearset.

they also sell brake bolts with sensors built in that should work, but like others have mentioned i just rigged a bracket on to work like the stock set up

since we're on the subject of rearsets, anyone know of any rearsets made that still have folding pegs? i'd like to get some for the 954 eventually, but i have not-so-fond memories of my sv with vortex rearsets on it that were solid. i hit them on the gorund a few times and lifted the rear wheel mid corner. not fun.
