Civic Wiring Problem.
OK, so when i was going to do my VTEC-E to VTEC ocnverstion i bought a 96-98 P2P ecu...and then recently i boughta 00' copmlete y8 swap taht came with the 99-00 P2P ecu (different ECUs)...it also came with a wiring harness that has plugs that fit only 2/3 of the slots on the ECU it came with. i figured, 'oh he bought the wiring harness seperatly from the ECU so he just got the 96-98 wiring harness instead of the 99-00.
But when i got home it wouldn't pplug into my 96-98 ECu either. So now im' trying to figure out waht i need to buy, and what type of wiring harness i actually have.
Any way of identifying?

sounds like you have a obd2a harness...i'm guessing you have a 96-98 car.....you will need to convert your car to obd2b...i know locash sells one... http://www.locashracing.com/adapters/2122.htm
i bet you can find one for cheaper or you can do it yourself....you would just need the harness plugs that go to the ecu from a 99-00, a spare obd2a ecu that you can get the plugs off of, wiring, and a lot of patience.

so, all i have to do is buy that convertor, and my current wiring harness should fit one of the two ECUs i have?
Because the two ECUs are different sizes...one is rectangle..and one is square...about 1/2 the size of the rectangle one. They're both P2P so i dont care which ecu it fits...so long as my car will run.

personally i would use the 96 ecu so i wouldn't have to convert it..but if you would want to use the 00 ecu you would have to buy the conversion...i really don't understand how that 96 ecu doesn't fit...all 96 civic/integra ecus plug up but the wiring may differ...also this may help

Many of the 99-00 and up ECUs are smaller, that's normal. Your harness should fit the 96-98 P2P no problem if you have a 96-98 car, what year and model car do you have? Take a picture of the harness plugs that you need to plug the ECU into..
By the way, if you need an OBD2a to 2b harness, or vice versa, I can make you one. All I need is the proper stock harness at least 8" long from a junkyard (the one that will plug into the ECU you want to use) and I have everything else.. I will do it a lot cheaper than Locash, $270 is rediculous...

ok, me and chahonda figured it out.
turns out there is a ECU for 96-97...98...and 99-00. henceforth there is a wiring harness for each.
TURNS OUT - horribly for me, tha ti have a 98 wiring harness...and the two ECUs i have are the 96-97 and 99-00. So nevermind anything i asked in here.
