Default help with carbon fiber

i just picked up a vis c/f hood and hatch yesterday. ive herd you can use peanut butter on the c/f to bring it back to life. does anyone know the exact steps?

also does anyone know where i can get a c/f lip for a 93 DA. passwordjdm no longer has them on there site, neither does seibon.

No. Never. Not unless you want a rancid hood.
Use a plastic polish like Novus, or a gentle fiberglass reconditioner/polish like some of the 3M Marine products. There are various grades of aggressiveness, so be careful what you get. This should get rid of any oxidation and bring back a good shine. Protect with a couple coats of good wax, or better yet, get it clear coated. Once it's clearcoated, the resin will be better protected and can be cared for like the rest of your paintwork.
If the resin has turned amber, there isn't anything you can do about that, the resin has been photochemically damaged by UV light and will stay like that.
I'm not sure who started the peanut butter bullshit, but it's really stupid. You'd be better off wiping it down with peanut oil, and it will still turn rancid in the sun.

peanut butter WILL work and it will not smell or make it rancid at all if u wash it off. however it wont stay looking new for more than 2 weeks. i havent had time to try another method but i really dont care that much bc i have deep cracks in the finish anyway
