FYI they changed the way the valve cover bolted in 87 . . never seen a sit to fit early and late model . . the older ones had 4 bolts on the outside flange . . the new ones are "center bolt" and have 4 bolts in a row on the top of the valve cover . .

 

I asked him that awhile back....he hasn't replied.
