local comercial crabbing
do any of u know someone in the crabbing business, i was talking to a guy at work about it and am sort of intrigued of the idea of making it a living. any insights? phone numbers?
Long hours, crappy work, even crappier pay and the lovely stench of the sea will follow you home. My brother worked one 10 years ago and still complains about that paticular job.
my cousin worked on a boat that took groups of people out fishing and worked as the bait boy and got paid ok but he made a killing in tips, just something else to look at if your intested in that kinda work
You deff have to want to do it. I crabbed for 7years and I actually(spell?) miss it. You can make good money at it. but your hard part will be getting the lic. to do it. They just dont hand them out like you prob think they do.
yeah you basically have to get a license from someone who already has one and is getting out of the business
Me and a few other guys I know on the board have had the pleasure to work on a commercial crabbing boat. We worked the southern branch of the elizabeth river and off of craney island on my uncle's boat.
Just think 4am mornings everyday except Sunday, the foul smell of rotten bait, jellyfish all over your face, wet hands and feet. Oh, and you can't forget the weather on hot ass days like today.
