how to wire up vtec in a obd0 d series?

how to wire up vtec in a obd0 d series?
does anyone know how to wire up vtec in a ef,with a mini me.Or even if you have to have a knock sensor for vtec to engage,im asking this because on a site i found it mentions wiring up a knock sensor and a 2nd o2 sensor but i have neither?
