Motorcyclist hurt; foul play suspected

POQUOSON -- Police in Poquoson are looking for the people who strung fishing line across a busy two-lane road earlier this month, injuring a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, a man from Hampton, was traveling on Little Florida Road about 3 p.m. June 17 when he was hit by the line across his neck, Poquoson Police Sgt. Robert Kimbrel said. The line snapped, and the motorcyclist did not lose control of his bike, but he later sought treatment for lacerations to his neck at a local fire station.

"It's just lucky he wasn't thrown off the bike," Kimbrel said.

Kimbrel said Little Florida Road is a busy thoroughfare in Poquoson, and investigators are puzzled at how the line was tied up without disrupting other traffic. While investigators did not recover any evidence from the scene on Little Florida, they found two other locations on Poquoson Avenue on Thursday where fishing line had been wrapped around utility poles. "It's an ongoing situation, not a one-time incident," Kimbrel said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887) or the Poquoson Crime Line at 868-TIPS.

holy shit, if they had used stronger line, they could have cut his head off. Imagine going 60 and hitting a 200+ pound strength rope with your neck...

I read somewhere else that the line was 150lb. test.
