Call your insurance company and tell them you sold the vehicle and want to remove it from your policy, then call DMV and deactivate the plates.

 

dmv was giving me the earful about how they need tangible plates, but I hear so much garbage from the dmv all the time maybe it is as simple as a quick phone call to deactivate. Already called the insurance company and they said to deal with the dmv first.

 

Whoever you talked to at DMV is full of shit. Call the 1800DMV number during business hours and they can do it over the phone.

I had the same thing happen with a friend of mine i sold a car to.


I jsut brought my bill of sale to DMV and the lady did it for me.
