Default Crashed for the 1st time, it hurts

IDK what I did, just lost concentration or something. Was coming of 495, on an off ramp and just took it way too wide. Like my mind must of been elsewhere b/c I wasn’t turning or something, all I know I was like #!@# guardrail, went into the grass starting putting my foot down to hopefully keep it up and BAM, I open my eyes bike is behind me. I must of had like a mini high side

Luckily I didn’t hit the guardrail, there was no other traffic coming and the bike and I landed in the grass by the rail out the way of traffic. Picked the bike up. Front crowling is smashed, exhaust pretty banged up. Somehow managed to scratch every fairing and broke one right off (see pic). Bike is rideable but the steering I think is F up cause when straight up the wheel is cocked slightly to the right. As far as me, I got a lil rash by my wrist and I believe my thumb is broke. Went to the campus health center and they said I cracked it and strained some tendon. Gotta go to another doctor tomorrow.

Im pretty pissed, I know everyone has their 1st crashed but idk where I went wrong. The turn wasn’t that tight I just...idk...my mind wasn’t right. Hopefully you guys got some words of encouragement (been riding like 2 months, about 1k miles). Hopefully my thumb and bike will be healed w/in a month.

O one last thing, Thank God I had all my gear on, boots, motorcycle jeans, helmet and jacket, everything worked real good. You guys think my helmet is still good? I know one hit and your suppose to toss them but it looks like its only a lil scrape.

Fairing totaly ripped off^^

first thing i'd do is replace the helmet if you want to get back on a bike. I'm a firm believer in having the best helmets out there. your body is no good without a good head on its shoulders. without a good head, you aint shit. as for the bike, ebay for new parts. if not, go to www.mrcycles.com. they sell parts at wholesale. i've been from them for about 5 years now. you lucked out man, could've been alot worse. glad to hear your ok.

Yeah, that helmet has to go, good to hear you're okay.

That site might be decent on some factory parts (which I didn't look at) But on their aftermarket pricing, they are a joke.

id take a broken thumb and some scratched fairings over serious injuries every day. and ive never heard of the smack the helmet, so you got to toss it. can anyone explain? im pretty sure that there like airbags, really good for one fall. but that minor scratch didnt look bad

TF is a mofo but you said that u where not really paying attention. and that worries me.
as for the helmet i would replace it if you do not remember the impact. keep it as your stunt helmet. lol
btw- +1 on full street gear. What was the gear lineup? besides the scorpion lid

Just took a shower, hurt like a bi***was out in like 2 mins lol. Like I said idk why I wasnt turning, could of been target fixatation. All I remember was driving straight towards the gurad rail, started to turn and break but it was too late.

Gear
Cortech HRX Jacket - lil scuff on shoulder plastics, in good condition
Aplinestar glove SMx3 - one has a hole on the thumb that i broke
Scropion 700 - lil scuff
Shift Torque Jeans - 2 lil holes, will still use
Timberland Boots - one boot big scuff, i was soo tempted to wear sneakers too, cause they are more comforatable, but glad I didnt
