Default vtec motor without vtec=cons?

are there any negative things that will happen if it run a vtec motor without vtec wired up?as in will it run too lean because all the oil being sent up top for the vtec solenoid, even though its not crossing over?

cliff note:
if i put a z6 in my eg with out vtec wired up will it still be reliable?

Correct me if I'm wrong somebody, but I don't think the head gets any extra oil if you do not have VTEC wired up because the spool valve in the vtec solenoid will not open to let the oil through?

i was thinking along the lines of that, but considered how well and much the z6 oil pumps flow i began to worry.

They flow well when needed. Take it like this, if you don't beat on the motor until you get everything wired and straight...what would be the difference as if you had VTEC wired up and babied it and never crossed into vtec? I see no difference. So you will be fine, but remember the b16...it was a turd without vtec and it only ran better when I wired it up correctly.

You'll start running out of airflow before the VTEC crossover point, the same as when VTEC is wired up. You'll feel the power drop off, so just keep the RPM under 5000 or so.
It will run perfectly normal until VTEC would engage, unless you're getting a CEL for not having VTEC hooked up. This really depends on what ECU you're using, and how you're engaging VTEC.

I ran without VTEC is my H22 for a while.
Ran in "limp mode" meaning that it pretended it was a non-vtec f22 ;p
It cut the redline from 8000 to 6200
It just never hit power, but ran perfect untill then.

Don't worry about the oil, it doesn't work that way.. If VTEC isn't wired up, the solenoid won't open, so no oil will flow through it.

Ran a week on my b16 without vtec. No issues other than vtec didnt work. However it ran like a D16 with 1000 more rpm.

Did a minime swap (a6/y8) and never wired up vtec. Ran fine for a year.
