97 Prelude Help....

Default 97 Prelude Help....

I got a 1997 Honda Prelude with a H23 VTEC engine....i drove it some when i had a check engine light no and i did get on it a little...but now there is a weird knock in the engine....i haven't lost any power and it is coming from the cam gear side of the engine is where it is loudest...it only can be heard when i accelerate...does anyone know what it might be

the motor you have is an h22. it sounds like your timing belt is hitting the cover. go check the light at auto zone or something.

It is an H23 and the oil light will flicker when you sit at an idle does that help

Then it's not the original motor if its an h23. 97+ ludes had h22's

Its not the original i bought the car with a blow H22 and a got a H23 put in and got a VTEC H22 head and put it on the H23 and i got a wierd know now

you swapped the h22 for an h23 that sucks i would have gone with a jdm h22..oil light flickering sounds like the same thing that happened to my friend in his 97 when he bent a rod

the oil is fine in it and i have had the oil sending you replaced.....if it is a rod bearing then i can replace it but i dont just want to jump to the conclusion.. i stopped driving the car as soon as i heard it.....i just dont know what to do

did you remove the oil control orifice on the block before you installed the head and did you add the oil squriters? heres some more info
