Question for Carbon Fiber Hood/trunk owners
I'm looking to get a carbon fiber hood and trunk for my 06 civic. I called pro-motion tuning to get a quote and some info. My main worry is winter is coming, the service rep recommended i get the hood and trunk sprayed with clearcoat, he said that would protect it from the snow and salt. I realy want to get it i just want someone to confirm if that is true. If it is, any good shops to do it at?? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

you dont need it. the clear coat from the manufacturer is usually sufficient, if its a good brand. just keep it clean wash/wax regularly.

Re: Question for Carbon Fiber Hood/trunk owners
I always put at least 3 coats clear on mine to help protect from rock chips...
Itll deflect MORE.. not all but deff more.
Some have very thin coat and smallest rock chips it and can hit the fiber.. once fiber is hit... its done...

Re: Question for Carbon Fiber Hood/trunk owners
ive had a few vis hoods that didnt need any clear sprayed, but then again rich has a good point...
it will def help with rock chips, and look better..
but most people dont take care of the hood from the get go and within a year it looks like ass.
im not sure what brand your getting, but my suggestion is to clear it.

I'm getting the ones from Seibon, i've heard good things about them. Now, how much would cost to clearcoat both parts?? And any shops around NOVA with good reputation??

Re: Question for Carbon Fiber Hood/trunk owners
I wouldn't worry about the clear coat, as long as you continue to maintain it, wash and wax on a routinely basis. The only issue that I see from using Carbon Fiber pieces such as your hood, you get alot of weird looking bumps over time.
