Abandoned car??
My ex-roommate left a car at my crib. With all his other stuff as well. But when he left, he didn't pay for any of the bills(ie. rent, utilities). So i was wondering if i could take possession of his car. I saw the title lying somewhere around the house and he never even registered it, it just has the seller's signature on it. So, here's what i'm thinking...
1. Write my name on the Title, go to DMV, register it, try to find a place that i could get a key at.
or
2. Slide it down my driveway along the side of the road, and wait for the city to put those "this car has been abandoned, it will be towed stickers"...(the tags are expired) then find someone to call to see if i could take ownership of it.
I don't really know any of the laws pertaining to this, if it's legal or not, but any help would be appreciated.
Also, the roommate's been gone for over a month. And when i looked through his stuff(cuz my mom didn't trust him), i found a couple hundred dollars worth of DVD's and video games that belonged to my brother and our other roommate.

Sounds like a first class guy. I really liked the part about him stealing from your brother. That was sweet. I would look into it. Call the DMV, or the city and ask. better to get something out of him tan nothing at all. By-the-way, where did he go? Jail?
I don't have a clue where he is... I'm thinkin bout sellin his TV to Cash Converter's while i'm at it. I'm hoping to fix his car up to a decent stock level (minor bodywork & new clutch) then sell it...
I strongly suggest talking to either a government official or a lawyer about this.

There is something that you can do, I don't know what. My friends uncle owns a repair shop and if the vehicle is left long enough they can take ownership somehow. Most of the time they don't because they are pieces of crap that should be crushed.
