17's on a honda
ive got a 96 honda civic 4 door and i was wondering if 17's would fit on them w/ out rubbing. its got a stock suspension. i read a thread about rims rubbing and i decided i didnt wanna have to do stuff to accomodate the larger rim size even if it is simple. but anyone know the answer to my question?

Re: 17's on a honda
The rims are not gonna rub, but the tires will....hit or miss depending on tire size. I had a 99 ex that I dropped on 17's with 40 series Nitto tires. It rubbed under full turn. I have also seen cars with 17's that didnt rub.....
To be safe... stay on 16's with 205/45....
One other thing, the offset of the rims play a big part. I noticed that +38mm and lower offsets are risky to the outer fenders of the car. In my experience of several rim sizes, +40mm offset on 16's is safe....

Re: 17's on a honda
i have a 2000 si with 17 in rims and 205 40 17 tires no rubing untill i lowered the car so i raised it a litle bit and no more rubing unless i hit a gangta ass pot hole or take a ridiculus fast turn.
PS. i know my spelling sucks.

Re: 17's on a honda
I had a 93 civic 4d with 17x7s and the tires were 205/40's . here is a pic:
as long as the car was not to low it never rubbed. i also put the wilwood brake kit on my civic that had 4 pot calipers and a 12.19 inch rotor and the 17 inch rim helped clearance issues. i hoped this helped.

Re: 17's on a honda
i think you should be ok as long as your at stock height.......just be carfull around pot holes and big bumps and you should be find......205 40 17's should be fine.....as far as off set i would look around a 35 to 40.....
