Post MY GREEN MACHINE--'93 CROWN VIC

Hi there
I can admit that I'm really new to this. Well, I have a '93 Crown Vic LX which my have it's day. I'm thinking about parting it out because i had some of the internal components tested. The deal is that the coolant has run in the engine oil. Many have said that it's a leaking or cracked head gasket. That hasn't been tested because my green machine can't even make it out of the drive way...LOL. I don't understand why I'm so attached to vehicle. All I know is that haynes book have became really close. I need or just wonder if some car buff who really likes messing with cars could come to help me fix it. I know that this car is old but I think it still has some life in it. Even though I have lost 30 pounds from walking since the car is down it's cold now. So if anyone could please contact me and let's have fun playing mechanic on my baby here. Any ideas will be so helpful.

i would go with the blown head gasket.....what motor is in it the 4.6? i would say give it a fresh rebuild and then try and sell it...or keep it..i you don't have the money you to rebuild your not going to get much from it.....by parting it out.

yes the 4.6 is in it, the nPI version. It's all that's in the modern vics. These motors can run to around 300k and the tranny usually craps out at around 200k. They are solid. If you have the plastic coolant crossover on your intake manifold, that could have blown out. I believe you have a metal crossover... but I could be wrong. Head gaskets aren't known to go on these cars, although that's what it could be... on the 93 it's usually the valve seals that will go and you'll see dark smoke when you first start the vehicle or take off heavy...

Let me take a look at it sometime... vics are great cars

I seriously doubt there's a considerable market for Crown Vic parts, so while you may have yourself some good parts, you're going to be sitting on them for a good while before they sell.

who said anything about parting it out, it's probably fixable, and besides the 4.6 mod motor is in the vic, grand marquis, towncar, mustang gt, and a few other vehicles... it's one of the most popular engine platforms today...
