Need Help changing timing belt or suggestions
A few months ago my 93 acura integra broke down while i was driving.... turns out the timing belt broke...I got it towed to pep boys and they did a diagnostics check and said it did internal damage to the engine.... now I had my buddy Levi look at it and he took it apart and said there wasnt any damage and should work if I got the timing belt changed...not sure who is right or what needs to be done to get my car working right again. So I was wondering if anybody would be willing to help me seeing that I need my car to drive places. thanks

putting on the timing belt is simple.
Set the pistons to TDC and and cams to where the arrow on the cam gears points up. the best way to make sure the cam gears don't move is to put a pin (read screw driver, punch, etc) in the hole so they don't move. Loosen the tensioner and put on the belt. Tighten tensioner until there is about 1/4 to 1/2 in of play.
Have fun.

it depends on what kind of engine you have. I can't remember the term- impact and non-impact, something like that.
anyway, the LS engine you have I believe, is a non-impact engine, meaning the valves should not have hit the pistons.
I had a thread about something like this a while back, but I can't find it. Its when I snapped my timing belt on my LS. If you have somebody with patron priviledges, go back in the tech talk area around 2005 or so and do a search for my thread. it was very interesting and it might help.

i think this is the thread you are talking about... but ive never heard of that its pretty much luck ..it depends what stroke your motor is on when it snaps... you really shouldnt have to pull the head to see if the valves are bent simply check valve clearances if the valves are way loose then you are in trouble they are bent.

i can give it a look see and let you know what to do
just put it back together a bet is not that expensive. just make sure that all your timing marks are in the correct spot.
PS. 99 percent of mechanics at shops will tell you that your engine has internal damage after a timing belt issue.
